Daisy sat quietly at the kitchen table shelling peas with her Mother.'

Oh, oh, Mum thought. Daisy's in a philosophical mood again. I can tell by the look on her face.

She continued shelling the peas and waited.

' Mummy...

Mrs. Harker turned to her little daughter.

'Yes, Daisy?'
