BREVITY

A chink appears

in the chrysalis;

a mystic

metamorphosis-

unveiling shimmering

hidden treasure

to celebrate its

brief life’s measure.

A flying flower;

no time to settle

on foxglove, daisy

vetch or nettle.

Ephemeral beauty

soundlessly clapping

with tipsy pleasure

while gently lapping

nectar from each

beckoning bloom

of buddleia, daisy

or golden broom

Ethereal wings

emblazoned bright

bend with the wind

in drunken flight.
